A timely and unique celebration
Held every year since 2000 as “Festival” of disabilities’ creativity and co-creation,
the developmental disabilities’ LOVE Festival has evolved into the largest
Korean American children’s celebration and a permanent quadrennial
event in our Nation’s Capital. The LOVE Festival pulls together America’s
diverse communities around their shared concern for children, their health,
and creative education. Open to the public, the LOVE Festival attracts
more than 1,500 attendees.
As the Southern California’s leading event that integrates arts and sports
with STEM education, the LOVE Festival demonstrates the importance of
creativity and empathy for developmental disabilities’ holistic development.
발달 장애인을 위한 “사랑의 마당축제”
중앙일보가 설립하여 커뮤니티를 위해 활발하게 활동하고 있는 미주한인사회의 대표적 비영리 봉사단체인
해피빌리지는 지난 한해 동안 커뮤니티의 비영리 봉사단체들의 지원과 불우이웃 돕기 그리고 홈리스를
돕기 위한 다양한 행사를 펼쳐 왔습니다. 해피빌리지는 남가주 밀알선교단과 공동으로 발달 장애인을 위한
“사랑의 마당 축제”를 개최 합니다. 5월 4일(토)에 어린이 날을 맞이해 펼쳐지는 금년 행사는
Seed Church와 함께 Buena Park Junior High School에서 성대히 펼쳐질 예정이며
1,500여명 이상의 발달장애인과 그 가족들이 참여하는 대형 “사랑의 축제”입니다.
우리 주위에 조금만 눈길을 돌리면 따뜻한 손길을 필요로 하는 사람들이 많습니다.
장애인들을 돕다 보면 그들이 우리의 관심과 손길을 얼마나 필요로 하는지, 우리가 그들에게 얼마나
소중한 존재인지 새삼 느끼게 됩니다. 1년 365일 대부분을 집안에서만 생활하는 장애인들을 위해
일년에 하루, 즐겁게 게임도 하고 맛있는 음식도 먹고 다같이 즐길 수 있는 축제를 마련했습니다.
나누면 배가 되어 돌아오는 기쁨을 함께 느낄 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다.
